New Year's Fashion Resolutions

Happy New Year Fahsionistas! 2013 was a great year of fashion but 2014 is going to hold even better creations.  Now that it is a new year, it is your chance to change your style! I have created some new year's resolutions and I hope they inspire you to try new things!

Mix Patterns - New Year, means bigger risks. I have always loved when people mix patterns but I have never been daring enough to do it myself.  I have decided that 2014 is the year I will start mixing things up! What I have paired below is a navy and crème striped skirt along with grey and crème polka dot socks and some cute brown booties.

Bolder Colors - Some of my favorite colors to wear are blue and grey.  In order to broaden my style, I wanted to mix it up with some bright pieces.  Whether it is just a bright scarf or a bright shirt it is my resolution to mix things up so it does not look like I am always wearing the same thing.  In the images below, I am modeling a bright sweater and a bright tank top.  This shows that no matter what the season, I will be able to accomplish my resolutions.

Wear More Skirts -  I love the look of a cute flowy skirt but whenever I put it on, I just end up putting on some jeans.  I want to step out of the jeans comfort zone and go daring with some more skirts.  Below I am wearing a flowy polka dot skirt along with some sandals.  If your resolution is to wear more skirts too and the climate in your area is cold, wear some leggings under and some boots.

Patterns - Similar to my skirt resolution, I always result to wearing jeans instead of patterned pants or leggings.  This resolution not only goes for bottoms but for tops too.  I always lean towards the simple plain shirts but this is a new year and I want to experiment with all sorts of crazy and unique patterns.  In the image below I am wearing some cute elephant print leggings with some brown boots.

Bolder Jewelry - In order to also jazz my 2014 outfits up, I want to experiment with bolder jewelry.  I have seen these big flower necklaces that look gorgeous with any simple shirt.  I want to get bolder necklaces and even though it is a new year, that does not mean you need to totally wipe out your closet.  That is why my resolution is to buy bolder necklaces, so they can go with a lot of the simple shirts I have.  A bold necklace is also a great accessorize to change your outfit from day to night.

Do NOT Result To A Hoodie -  Hoodies are a comfy solution but they do not look put together.  I am all for dressing comfy but there are other items like sweaters you could wear instead of a hoodie.  Over the past few years I have worn hoodies when I am running late or it is cold.  My resolution is to buy jackets I can wear over my sweaters, so if I have alternate options, I will not result to wearing a hoodie.

Donate - I am guilty of hoarding clothes I will never wear.  My 2014 resolution is to clean out anything I know for a fact I will no longer wear.  There are many people in need of lots of things and clothing is one of them.  I have thick and thin items I am never going to wear again just sitting in my closet.  2014 is the year I am going to get rid of anything I will not wear and donate it to the people in need.

Quality Over Quantity - Don't you just love when you find a great sale? I know I do.  Another one of my resolutions is to no longer buy things on good deals if I know I'm not going to wear it.  Some people say, "It was such a good deal, I just had to buy it".  Even though you are getting the shirt for a better price, if you know you are never going to wear it you shouldn't buy it.  Instead of buying two shirts for a really good deal that you might not ever wear, get the one shirt you really love that is the same price.  If I love a shirt but it is the same price as two "maybe" shirts, I from now on am going to get the one shirt because I will end up saving your money in the end because you would get more uses out of that one shirt you really love.

Thank you for reading about my New Year's fashion resolutions.  Most of my resolutions relate back to the idea to experiment with different styles and  take risks.  By taking these different fashion risks is how you discover your true style sense because you are not afraid to wear anything.

I hope this post influences you to make some of your own resolutions or do some of my resolutions with me.  Let me know what your resolutions are by commenting below!
